PBM-ETH-3.0 "is a new model launched by Dingshi Company. Compared to the "-2" basic model, it has added a baud rate of 6M, V1/C1 and V1/C2 functions, supports dual master station redundancy on the DP bus, and has been upgraded to a built-in dual port switch for Ethernet. It supports both bus type structure (daisy chain link) and redundant type structure (redundant dual port link).

Main purpose:

Application Cases

1. Provide PROFIBUS solution for DCS/PLC control system

How can a DCS system or PLC become a PROFIBUS master station? How to connect PROFIBUS slave devices to form a fieldbus control system? Many automation systems require the matching of PROFIBUS master station components, especially those DCS independently developed by enterprises, but currently there is no system with PROFIBUS master station function. For power generation automation systems and petrochemical DCS control systems, Dingshi main station gateway can be used as a matching component for PROFIBUS main station to enhance the control system's ability to integrate fieldbus PROFIBUS devices.
The dashed box in Figure 1 shows a DCS system independently developed by a thermal power automation system supplier in Shandong. It is equipped with a Dingshi main station gateway to connect a large number of PROFIBUS slave stations on site, including frequency converters, actuators, and sensors. The manufacturer collaborates with our company to provide a PROFIBUS master gateway as a PROFIBUS solution for DCS systems.

  

A well-known supplier of thermal power automation systems in Shanghai has been using its independently developed DSC system in thermal power automation systems for many years, as shown in the dashed box structure in Figure 2. Adopting Dingshi PROFIBS main station gateway to provide PROFIBUS solution for its DCS. The difference between this scheme is that it requires redundant PROFIBUS gateway devices (dual machine hot standby automatic switching of the gateway), and the main station gateway also has PROFIBUS-DPV0/V1 (C1+C2) function. The upper computer can read the DPV1 (C2) data from the slave station through the main station gateway to complete the remote instrument configuration function of the workstation.

A Beijing industrial boiler control automation system supplier has requested Dingde to provide a PROFIBUS solution for its industrial PC based DCS. The characteristic of this scheme is that it requires PROFIBUS gateway equipment and bus redundancy (dual machine hot standby automatic switching of the gateway), and also requires the master station gateway to have PROFIBUS-DPV0/V1 (C1+C2) function at the same time. The upper computer can read the DPV1 (C2) data of the slave station through the master station gateway to complete the remote instrument configuration function of the workstation.


2. The integration of a large number of PROFIBUS interface instruments provides a solution, such as the PROFIBUS system integration for measuring and protecting equipment in factory power monitoring systems

  The bottom layer of the factory power monitoring system consists of measurement and protection equipment, such as motor protection MCC, power measurement and protection PCC, intelligent switches, frequency converters, intelligent soft starters, etc. PROFIBUS-DP is currently a popular fieldbus communication protocol at the bottom level of power monitoring systems. The upper layer network is generally based on Ethernet protocols; At present, MODBUS/TCP is the mainstream, and protocols such as 104 power protocol and PRPFINET may also be popular in the future. The power monitoring system must network the on-site PROFIBUS devices through the main station gateway and transmit data to Ethernet to achieve the monitoring function of power equipment.
At present, there are two ways to integrate the main station with on-site PROFIBUS equipment in the power monitoring system: one is to insert a PROFIBUS main station network card (such as Dingshi PROFIBSU main station PCI network card model: PBM-G-PCI), The second is to use a main station gateway module (such as the Dingshi PBMG series PROFIBSU main station gateway module). The latter method is gradually becoming the mainstream trend for two reasons: firstly, the PROFIBUS slave devices are numerous and highly dispersed, and the network card based master station is not as distributed as the modular master station gateway installation; Secondly, the modular master gateway is not limited by slots and can be expanded freely to meet the requirements of dispersed and large numbers of slave stations.

Implement power monitoring systemPROFIBUSThe requirements for the main station gateway in device networking are:

1)The number of fieldbus devices is large and highly dispersed: In an actual factory power monitoring system, there are a huge number of on-site devices, such as a chemical plant with only 800 to 1000 motor protection MCC units. A large number of on-site equipment are scattered across a vast area.

The advantages of Dingshi main station gateway in meeting the networking requirements of a large number and strong dispersion of fieldbus devices are:
① Multi physical interface design (2 ports), built-in hub technology, eliminating the need for external wiring and relay expansion to reduce engineering costs. A single gateway can integrate up to 62 slave stations without the need for relay expansion.
② The modular main station gateway can be installed in a decentralized manner based on the upper layer Ethernet, meeting the requirements of on-site device decentralization;
③ The expansion of modular main station gateway is not limited by the number of slots like slot network cards, and can be freely expanded to adapt to the integration of a large number of on-site devices

2)Ensure real-time refresh of large amounts of dataThe networking of a large number of fieldbus devices will inevitably result in a decrease in data integration and network data refresh speed. The control system requires the gateway to ensure a certain PROFIBUS device data refresh speed.
The data refresh speed of on-site equipment is related to various factors such as PROFIBUS speed, single slave data volume, number of slave stations, number of master station gateways, and design principles of master station gateways;

The advantages of Dingshi main station gateway in meeting the real-time requirements of large amounts of data refreshing are:
① The gateway design principle is based on the "memory sharing" gateway design, with high-performance (hardware) data processing capabilities ensuring real-time data transmission through the gateway.
② The modular master station gateway can freely expand the installation quantity, reducing the number of slave stations connected to a single master station, thereby improving the data refresh speed of slave stations.


3. PROFIBUS device upgrade and PROFINET system connection

PROFINET, as an upgraded technology for PROFIBUS, must consider protecting the investment of users who have already used PROFIBUS; Namely, a solution must be proposed for the connection between PROFIBUS devices and PROFINET systems. The solution proposed by International PI for this is to use PROFINET/PROFIBUS (PN/PB) gateway to integrate PROFIBUS devices and connect them to the PROFINET system. The following figure shows the integration of PROFIBUS devices into the PROFINET system using PN/PB gateway.

In the above picture, IO1 # and IO2 # are PROFINET field control devices with PN/PB PLC control. There are engineer workstations 1 # and 2 # in the PROFINET network. This is a typical control system based on PROFINET. Due to the user's existing PROFIBUS devices and the fact that a large number of PROFIBUS devices are still needed in the real system, the PROFIBUS devices are integrated and connected to the PROFINET system through the PN/PB master station gateway. The PN/PB master station gateway is the master station on the PROFIBUS side and the IO device on the PROFINET side.


4. Provide solutions for integrating PROFIBU devices into various control systems

The international industrial control network standard IEC61158 includes more than ten network standards, so we always have to face the reality of multiple industrial network technologies coexisting. In the implementation of specific engineering projects, system integrators must face the problem of interconnection of on-site devices with different communication protocols.
The most widely used application of Dingshi PROFIBUS master station gateway is to network some on-site PROFIBUS devices (such as frequency converters, soft starters, intelligent protection, MCC, etc.) and connect them to DCS, PLC, PAC, PC and other controller systems that do not have PROFIBUS master station functions.

The requirements for the PROFIBUS master gateway in this application have the following characteristics:
(1) The upstream interface supports multiple protocols and free protocols: the downstream interface refers to the PROFIBUS master interface, and the upstream interface is a third-party device interface. Require rich types of interface 2 (RS232/485/422, CAN2.0A/B, 802.3) and support for multiple protocols including enterprise custom protocols.

The Dingshi PROFIBUS gateway has Ethernet MODBUS/TCP, MODBUS/485, CANOPEN standard protocols, and several enterprise custom protocols (customized).

Dingshi Min main station PBM-G-MBS2 only connects 2 DP slave stations, and the price is close to that of a slave bus bridge. It can be widely used for connecting a single DP slave station to Ethernet or MODBUS/485 control systems.
